Could Breeze Be Coming To Worcester??? False Alarm

 We have heard heard that Breeze has in fact has looked closely at ORH. 


Now this comment from last night:


Big announcement at the airport tomorrow. They have half the terminal curtained off. Friend who works there heard Breeze mentioned a few times.



At the same time we have not heard anything recently????

Hope we are wrong!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Bill,

There was a meeting at the airport this morning.  We hosted the Worcester Research Bureau’s Board Meeting.  The Massport CEO was the keynote speaker.  Is that what you’re referring too?

There would’ve been an announcement of something saying that an event or a new airline was coming if that was the case. Plus, Breeze just announced new routes last week and wouldn’t include a separate announcement from Worcester. Still hopes that a push for delta to Atlanta happens.

The CEO of Breeze said not too long ago that his airline has no plans to start service out of Worcester. I know Tim Murray (Chamber) sent them a letter asking them to take a serious look at ORH, but apparently they weren't interested. It's nice to know that Andy is reading this blog. Maybe he can explain why there are people that live two miles from the airport that know nothing about it's flights.

^^ So focus more on around the airport and not expanding flights? How come jets can’t land there when A320s and B757 used to land at Worcester Airport way before JetBlue came. If only planes that are smaller like 737s can land, why aren’t we targeting an airline like Southwest or use Delta for the A220s?

Saw something on a billboard today while driving on I-290 that I haven't seen before: an airport/airline advertisement. Just one problem, it was for Breeze Airlines and TF Green airport.

Meanwhile, just read that Avelo is adding a 14th destination out of New Haven.

Going too a Woosox conversation, little bit of drama between the WBJ and the bravehearts. One thing that’s great about the owner of the brave hearts is all the valid points he made about the woosox. One thing he mentions is the woosox did not draw enough people to make the ballpark profitable and although the bravehearts attendance dropped, one point they made was they only need 750 fans to attend to break even and anything after that is profit.

^^ another thing to add on to that. There’s one thing the woosox promised on before they came that they fulfilled. Every WPS student would get a ticket to a game. Little did we know, that the ticket the person I know, her son is in kindergarten, it’s for the game this Sunday (it mentioned it was a flex voucher) and it’s a standing room only ticket. You really expect elementary school students to stand for 3 hours? Like how dumb can you be with making that decision.

Air Force One always lands at ORH when coming to Worcester. That's either a 747 or a 757. Also, instead of Massport hosting the Worcester Research Bureau why don't they host a reception for area executives and business owners to promote the airport?

The one the president flew in was a B757. That one was able to land at the airport. Couldn’t find anything on minimum requirements of the runway for Air Force one but for Worcester, the longest runway (7,001 feet) can land a Boeing 737, 757-200, Airbus A319, A320, A321, and A330. It obviously can land an A220 as well, in fact, an A220-100 theoretically, could land on either of the 2 runways ORH has. The 747 didn’t come to worcester because I believe they weren’t confident it could land on the runway (Worcester is a hard place to land an airplane when you factor altitude and weather). But still, advertising and getting more flights. Something in downtown worcester, 290, mass pike, pleasant street, not a sign saying “Worcester Airport” with a plane and arrow.

Common sense is right, maybe Massport should host a reception for area business executives and owners instead of the board on Research bureau. Maybe an organized group made up of these people, like the 100 top executives that serve on the Worcester Research Bureau. Oh.. wait. Check that box.

There around 35,000 colleges students that attend school in Worcester. Some of these kids live outside of a practical driving distance. They fly in and out at the beginning and end of school, holiday breaks, and spring breaks. Their parents may may fly in and out during parent's weekends. Why not aggressively market that group?

Not only do they have ORH, they DONT refer to other airports. And, yes that was me that corrected Common Sense to educate him that the Research Bureau is made up of local business executives (BTW, nice deflection CS with redirecting to lack of marketing with the college community). So help me out here, dont use "anonymous" as your name so I know who to correct. Use a pseudoname, Amtrak lover. Yes, im guilty of that too. But now I'll identify myself as Fact Checker. I just dont want people to assume things are true because the read it on the internet.
