WRA Meeting February 11th

Wanted to watch to hear about details of the PILOT with Madison on the garage that they are leasing.   Starts at about 3 minute....    

  1. What is the amount of the PILOT?
  2. Still not sure why Madison is not paying real estate taxes???  Why does restaurants in Union Station or restaurant in parking garage downtown pay taxes under their leases??

Why aren't taxes being paid on the garage and the ballpark. It seems clear from reading the law you posted that both the garage and the ballpark should be paying taxes.It is probably the same law that has the restaurants being taxed by the City. It doesn't seem fair or correct.

The deal with the WooSox seemed to be one sided in their favor before. Now we find out they are not paying real eastate taxes. Could the deal get any worse.

That what happens when amateurs get deal fever. They give away all of the money and accept all of the risk of the deal.

What is the risk of making a bad deal when it is not your but taxpayers money. There is none. Every year, tax classification, it is cross between the movies Animal House and Groundhog Day, the pledge scene where the Kevin is bent over getting paddled saying "thank you sir may I have another". When will it end.

The City Manager's previous job was to supervise three people at some made-up job at Holy Cross. Joe Petty convinced the city councilors to hire him without interviewing anyone else. What do you expect?

I watched the video and nothing was said on why taxes are not being paid or what are the terms of the PILOT. Does the City Council need to vote on this?

The city council will leave that topica good leaving alone, wave their ballpark Pom poms vigorously and raise your taxes even more vigorously (unless you are in the tax free or TIF club)

I read the materials you posted and watched the video and nothing of any value explaining the lease, taxes or the PILOT is in print or was spoken about. Is this everything which was provided? If it is,how do the members, and people like me, know what is being voted on, if we can't read the specifics of the item or does the board just voted how the City tells them too regardless of what the item is?

One observation I meant to make with the last comment was about the members of the authority. The city's website lists the members and their terms.. It looks like Mr. Perone and Mr Tilton's terms have expired. I don't know if the webpage has not been updated or if it is an error. The reason I bring this up is because I remember an article with the Health Board where they had to take a vote on the masks again because of an error. Who can I report this too? Also, the authority has two members that are lawyers. When I watched the video I noticed that neither lawyer voted on the garage items. Were they busy and could not participate or did they intentionally avoid this item?
