I hope MASSPORT is not waiting for phone calls, they should be banging on the phone right now. Also, let’s look at who’s on transportation committees in the house and senate. Let’s land service before merger approval. Let’s get some action MASSPORT
.

Amazing news!! Please Worcester Airport blog email Andy Davis/MassPort about this… maybe they are unaware.

Hopefully MASSPORT can get this done!! They really need to be more active on the airport marketing side of the business. Spirit/Frontier is definitely interested, as they have mentioned on their presentation; so lets only hope Andy Davis is getting active with the airline.
Also any new airline that comes in, will add non-stop to Orlando right away, a void that JetBlue left and will miss out if they do not have this flight reinstated. Spirit/Frontier will add a lot of pressure on the other airlines at ORH and it will only help the airport and Central Mass area.

Was watching GBnews.UK at 3pm over the internet and there was a 30-second ad on their feed for Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.

450 apartments planned for Franklin St.
It's good they added a second platform to Union Station to accommodate more trains.

Maybe this will help the WRA rent those three empty storefronts behind Union Station?

The one thing that is noticeably missing from this area, which has been transitioning to housing for the last ten years is some form of a grocery store, a Trader Joe's lite or some form of urban grocery store where residents in the area can walk to. The empty store front in Union Station might be good for that because it is centrally located between the apartments on Franklin and Front Street as well as the new ones on Green St Water St etc. The City should be sending out information to chains trying to lure them in.

Was just looking at flights for June 30th. The code share is now there. JB now shows 3 daily flights to JFK

RE: JFK flights...thats 2 operated by JetBlue and one operated by Republic Airlines for American. The two afternoon flights are one-hour apart!

Of course Massport and Andy are well aware of this and working with them. Would Frontier and Spirit have singled out Worcester in this report if things weren't in the works already? Duh!

Im guessing that was Andy.

Could it be ORH was included in the presentation just to try get approval for the merger? It wouldn’t be the 1st time that a business uses something in a slick presentation just to get its approval.

Remember this was a presentation to stockholders and investors...it contains caveats such as "forward-looking statements" Historically these "puff pieces" and PR releases are just to create buzz.. Don't get too excited!!

I believe that we all understand that it is just a presentation. At the same time, one can make an argument that thousands of other cities could've been used! Somehow they picked those specific cities for a reason. The reason being they have an interest or have been approached by those cities/airports requiring service.

Markey is on the senate transportation committee, maybe it was a bone for him.

Only JetBlue who was the first to take a chance at ORH has mede it work,, Why do you think ANOTHER ENTITY, given the history of this unloved airport , would come here?
David Z. said…
I believe JetBlue made it work because they targeted leisure destinations. And IMHO, they made a big mistake not resuming the Orlando flight when they restarted their service.

Perhaps Frontier/Spirit sees Orlando as an opening to be the next airline to make it work.

Would be great if JB flights appeared on AA site too, not just AA on JB.

Avelo already talking about expanding in New Haven:

If Massport could get someone in here and focus on leisure destinations I think it would be wildly successful. As it is, there is almost zero marketing of Worcester Airport so it's set up to fail as is. I know they say they are on social media, etc. but there is a disconnect somewhere. I knew nothing of the free parking being offered at the airport until I read it on this blog and I live a little over 3 miles from the airport and drive by it multiple times a week. My neighbors also just flew to Fort Lauderdale and I was surprised to find out they were flying out of Boston. They had no idea they could get a nonstop flight a little over 3 miles from their house. Obviously whatever little marketing of the airport they are doing isn't working when people who live close by don't have a clue of what is offered there. I mentioned this previously but they have completely squandered a great marketing opportunity with the free parking that is being offered.
