Marketing Of Worcester Airport

Spoke with a friend yesterday about flying to Tampa and he is a big JetBlue guy.  Told him to fly Worceter to JFK then connect to Tampa.  He had no idea that he can do that!!!

We need more marketing like this not an airport name change.

Tweets below do nothing to market our airport.   You would only think you can get to NYC and Fort Lauderdale.

I did Tampa out of Worcester on Delta in November. He can do it from LaGuardia too.

Oh, and the city manager was on my return flight from LGA. I talked with him for bit, glad to see him using the airport.

Why don't they mail FLYERS to every resident in Worcester County?? It probably doesn't cost that much either.

Where is the money supposed to come from for marketing? Massport, the City, the airlines and the Chamber of Commerce don't seem to be willing to pony up the money. An effective marketing plan could cost upwards of $250,000.

I would argue that probably 75% of travelers would opt for a direct flight from Logan rather than having to switch planes at a busy airport like JFK.

Recently booked a trip to the Caribbean. I looked at flying out of ORH, but the layover at JFK was over 3 hours.

A mailer should only cost $37,000.

If they can't afford marketing, at least we should have "Boston" in our name.

Worcester-Boston Regional Airport = FREE Marketing.

Someone going to say, Framingham or any other city in our state, will realize there is a Worcester airport when he searches Boston.

At the very least, a metropolitan area airport code is easy and harmless. WAS includes IAD, DCA, BWI. NYC includes JFK, EWR, LGA. QMI includes FLL, PBI, MIA. CHI includes ORD, MDW, RFD. Why not BST for BOS and ORH?

Manchester Airport in NH did this around 10 years ago. I think they call it Manchester-Boston Airport. I'm not sure if it helped boost passenger counts?

Send Massport an email about your mailer idea. I sent them some suggestions about parking. They got right back to me.

Maybe a dumb idea, but maybe the City could put something on the back of the property tax bills. I'll email the city managet and Massport.

They have a great opportunity to market the airport with the free parking they are offering but they are squandering that completely. I did a little research and found a single news article each on the Telegram website, MassLive, and Spectrum News. I usually check out the Telegram's website and the MassLive site at least every couple of days and never saw these articles. Also checked out Massport's website. After you find the Worcester Airport section you have to then click on the Parking section and there in very small font is a sentence that says parking is free through June 2022. I live just a few miles from the airport and knew nothing of the free parking thing until I read it on a post on this blog. Also, the signage for the airport blows. It's all generic. They need to come up with some type of logo. Can't comment on the AA issues. I was disappointed that they discontinued the Philadelphia service. I have family in the Philly area that I visit several times a year and they also visit us here so I would have gladly used that flight. It's not worth going to Logan or Providence to fly to Philly for me since I can drive there in about 5 hours so I'll just continue to drive there. Trying to book a flight on Delta to West Palm Beach out of ORH but it's like an 8 hour flight with the connections. If they could get that Delta flight to be a bit earlier I think it would be more attractive. I flew on DirectAir multiple times to Florida when they were here. The planes themselves were pretty beat up but they were always full or close to it. There's a market here for the leisure destinations for sure.

A 2nd Delta flight would be so much better than hanging onto AA. It would give passengers so many more options. Hope we can get there
