The Economics of Sports Stadiums: Does public financing of sports stadiums create local economic growth, or just help billionaires improve their profit margin?
Since the announcement of the possibility of the Pawtucket Red Sox relocating to the City of Worcester I have read countless articles and papers detailing the fact that sports stadiums are not an economic engine. Someone even went as far as rubbing salt in the wounds of Pawtucket after the move was announced and made a sarcastic comment about the area surrounding booming because of the ball park.
In jest I challenge you to find one, just one, article which proclaims the merits of a stadium or ballpark just for a change of pace.
