  • The total investment for the project is reported to be $240 million in the city, including the development of a downtown hotel, which is dependent on the casino being built.
  •  Mass Gaming & Entertainment LLC says the casino project could bring in about 600 permanent jobs at the casino and the hotel as well as hundreds of construction jobs

Editor's note:

  1. Slots would have cost $159,500,000 less to the taxpayers then Polar Park
  2. $240 million for slot development was all private monies.....

How about if the casino was built on the site across from Polar Park? Then you would have the best of both worlds.

Bill, Sorry to just read in the T&G that Breeze Airlines has no interest in ORH.

Earlier in the year the Telegram said JetBlue had no plans to be back this year?? Breeze is watching ORH. We are the exact type of airport that they are targeting in the business plan...

I think you said the same thing about Southwest pre-pandemic. I got a great idea that will make you go crazy. What if American and Delta don't come back and the two JFK flights have poor load numbers? How long do you think Massport's going to hold on to a business that is losing them $12,600,000 per year? Maybe they dump ORH (all 1300 acres) to a private developer for $250 to $300 million. The land could be developed over time for biomedical and manufacturing uses that could create 10,000+ jobs. You could expand the runway and facilities at Sterling Airport to handle all the civilian planes(and ocassional corporate jet) that now use ORH. I think only a relatively small amount of people and entities own the land around that Sterling Airport. They could easily be bought out at huge profits to move away. Our residents won't be harmed because 99% of them use the five major airports within an hour's drive. I told you I would make you crazy!!!
