Breeze Announcement: We Did Not Make This Cut

We did not make it but there are alot of secondary airports that did and they did not pick Boston.   These two facts bode well for Worcester in future.

 

Little surprised by destinations from Hartford

  1. Charleston
  2. Norfolk
  3. Pittsburgh
  4. Columbus

And Providence:

  1. Charleston
  2. Norfolk
  3. Pittsburgh

 

Not sure how any of these destinations would do from ORH.    Think the destination we want is Tampa.

I think once traffic in Worcester picks up again then we’ll get breeze. The one thing that Hartford and providence still has now that Worcester doesn’t is flights and they didn’t completely stop during the pandemic. Breeze is going with airports that have had success for the past couple of years with other airlines now so it can feel confident that it will succeed then transition to other airports. Just a waiting game now for Worcester

It would be nice to get Breeze, but it will pull out of ORH just like every airline known to man has over the last 50 years. Direct flights to Florida have pretty much been the only thing that has worked at ORH. PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO FLY OUT OF WORCESTER AIRPORT. there are four other major airports within an hour's drive of ORH. They all have direct highway access. Maybe Massport can cut their losses and dump the airport to a private developer. It's a loser. It always has been and it will be.

Not EVERY airline....JetBlue was wise enough to realize that Orlando and Fort Lauderdale are a slam dunk from ANYWHERE. And apparently they are returning post-Covid.

I have to disagree with Common Sense on this one. Yes, airlines have pulled out of ORH historically. But air travel in the past is hugely different than it has been over the last 5-10 years. So many more people are flying and airline competition has increased dramatically.

As someone who used ORH as a viable alternative to BOS and PVD due solely to my personal convenience and added productivity in travel days, I can personally attest to the superior consumer experience. I only had one hiccup where I got diverted to PVD due to there being no mechanic at ORH to change a light. I chalked it up to “things happen at airports.” I’ve had much worse issues at BOS, ORD, JFK etc.

I don’t even know the price difference flying JetBlue from ORH versus BOS and I don’t care. The only time I checked it was less when you added Loganparking or car service fees and the loss of hours in rptravel time and aggravation.

I even used JetBlue to get to NYC. It was by far the best and fastest way to get there (and cheaper compared to driving and parking ).
The return flight being so late was the only problem with that route. I hope it returns with an additional return leg that a bit earlier.

Every flight that I took was full (Orlando and Ft Aiderdale) or at least 70% full(JFK)
