Hartford: Now North Crossing Not DoNo

One of Hartford’s largest redevelopment projects in decades — just north of downtown around Dunkin’ Donuts Park — is getting a new name.

The $200 million or more development of apartments, parking garages, retail and entertainment space will now be known as “North Crossing” shedding Downtown North, or DoNo.

“The DoNo name has been around for a long time, but this is obviously a new development and a new revival from the old plans and we wanted to freshen that up a little bit,” project developer Randy Salvatore, founder and chief executive of Stamford-based RMS Cos., said Monday. “But essentially, we view our project as being the connector in a lot of ways for the historic center of the downtown and the north side of the city, crossing over I-84.”
