Columbus New Soccer Stadium Will Cost Taxpayers $146 Million

Great column

Key points:

  1.  Haslam Sports Group, which owns the Crew as well as the Cleveland Browns, will any costs that exceed $146 million.    Sound familiar?
  2. Those projects will benefit other proposed developments in that part of the Arena District, and the city said that some were planned before the stadium was proposed.  Sound familiar?
  3. "Very commonly there is low transparency in these stadium projects," said Victor Matheson, an economics professor at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, who is an expert in stadium financing. Sound familiar
