Polar Park Costs Increasing $20,000,000 To Taxpayers

On this blog we had predicted:

  1. The park will be built on time
  2. 10,000,000  over budget
  3. April 1, 2019 , there will be none of the 90 million dollars of private development in "Phase 1" will be completed.

Check out Council Meeting agenda for Monday starting on page 58.    We were right the ballpark costs are up $9,400,00, but the team will cover this, not the taxpayers.  GREAT NEWS!!!

Here is the bad news.

  • Taxpayers will have to pick up the $20,000,000 million of additional costs for property acquisition and site preparation.
  • $20,000,000 cost overrun
  • This is just cost overrun #1
We will have updates all week-end on other parts of this 11 pages..

Taxpayers shouldn't be paying for this. Did we vote for it. Not that I remember. I don't even like baseball! Tax the people who will be going to the games! What about the bond money?

Kookier Betts has a one year contract for 27 million! Why should the taxpayers have to pay for their stadium?
