What's Wrong With ORH In One Picture

Check out this picture of Jim Polito at Boston Logan about to board plane with Senator Warrent to DC.

After all the monies that have been invested in Worcester and with three major carriers, we need to provide flights and options to keep local travelers here at ORH.    Many times we hear about the need to market to Metro-West etc.

Imagine if we were just able to get a lock on Central Mass???   Mid-day turn to JFK with JetBlue would make huge difference!!!   Every day we run into people who have come back from a trip or a going on a trip and we ask if they used Worcester??  Too many times they say no.

Just today our appliance guy told us he was going to Ireland for ten days.    JetBlue has an early morning JFK flight out of ORH that you can connect with Aer Lingus to Ireland that is perfect for travel to Ireland from Central Mass.

Not at any surprise to us, but he had no idea he could do that and he is flying out of Boston tomorrow afternoon.     Believe when you check in at Worcester, your bags are automatically transferred to Aer Lingus and they are in the same terminal as JetBlue at JFK.   Very very convenient.   Instead he is going to fight Boston traffic tomorrow and he lives basically at the end of the ORH runway!!

FYI:  Jim Polito WTAG studios in Paxton literally 4 miles from ORH.     We should not be losing guys like Jim and our appliance guy to Boston.

ORH to DUB is a horrible itinerary. You leave ORH at 6AM, land at 7AM, and wait until 5:20PM for the next EI flight to Dublin. Flying an hour in the opposite direction from Ireland only to wait for 10 1/2 hours to fly to Ireland is a rather poor use case for ORH, to be honest.

My buddy flew out this morning for a business meeting this today and is taking the train back to providence instead of waiting 6 hours in JFK for a return flight at 11pm. He said he will be back by 2-3pm once he Uber’s home from providence.

AGree on the Ireland comment. We need a mid-day turn to JFK desperately as evidence by Tim's friend taking a train back to Providence.

I don't blame Jim Polito and Liz Warren for flying direct from Logan to Washington DCA. Jet Blue has a flight every single hour of the day from 6 am to 9pm and one return every hour back to Logan.

Waiting on the single turn to JFK to connect to DCA, especially on the way home, would be simply stupid. I fly there often, many times in and out on the same day. If I had to rely on the JFK to ORH return making it, I'd be screwed. Also, the way DC works is that if you have a meeting with, say, Liz Warren at 2 pm, she could get called into a vote or sudden caucus meeting and she reschedules you to 3pm, or moves it up to noon.

When you are done, you just go back to DCA and jump on the next JetBlue flight to Logan AND YOU HAVE YOUR WHOLE AFTERNOON BACK. If you need to go back to ORH, you have to wait at JFK until 11 pm to fly back, wasting the whole day.

Having a direct ORH-DCA would be great if it were early morning ORH departure and early to mid evening return to ORH. That would work.

This post has been very miscontrued. We do not blame Liz Warren for flying out of Boston since she lives/works in Cambridge....

Nor do we blame Jim Polito for flying out of Boston becuase of the schedule......

Our point was that we should have the schedule/options) here at ORH so people like Jim Polito would be flying out of Worcester not having his picture taken in Boston with the Senator.....

A mid-day turn to JFK with JetBlue would solve alot of problems!!!

Also-it appears Massport has leverage with both JetBlue and Delta if it truly cares about the success of Worcester Airport or the needs of Central Mass residents like us.

Flew JetBlue ORH to MCO last Saturday the 21st. We left on time, got in to MCO on time. I was sitting in the second to last row and it looked like the flight was less than half full. Back end of the plane was very empty. The annual Wings of Freedom vintage airplane show was going on. Lots of foot traffic out there. Flew home today. Again, left MCO on time, got in to ORH on time. Flight was much more full but not completely. Again, I was in second to last row. Seat next to me was empty. Seat next to guy across the aisle was empty. Rows in front and back of me were empty. Other than a screaming child several rows up, no complaints regarding JB's performance and schedule over the last week.
